Congrats on finishing. That was a really fun trip. Miles,I'm sorry I had to hit one out of the park during the ball game on voodoo beach...payback for the previous knockdown pitch!! That last leg paddling towards the tip of Manhattan was great. Of course, after the carnage that happened to you guys and your boats on the previous legs,I was glad nothing happened to my new 20 Virgin boat!!!!
» We finally made it. Jeep joined Tim and I for the last leg of Montauk, Long Island to Red Hook, Brooklyn. We launched about 12:20 from B122 Street, Rockaway Beach scene of last weeks near disaster. The wind was howling, sand was blowing on the beach. It was 20-25mph with gusts up to 35 from due east. The surf to the beach was surprisingly small and launching was a non-event. White caps were everywhere but once we got a comfortable distance from shore we sailed along at a very fast clip aided by the wind and the swell. The recorded high speed was 13.5 mph surfing on waves just past Breezy Point. Drifting alone we almost were doing 2 mph. We rounded Coney Island caught the flood tide crossed Gravesend Bay and had lunch on Voodoo Beach near the base of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Then it was a quick 5 miles to the Coffey Street Pier/Landing in Red Hook by 5:45. A total of 19.04 miles for the day. The trip totaled 140.72 in 7 days.

» Many thanks Tim for many great days on the water and to you too Jeep for joining us on the last day. Where should we go next!!!!!»
