Third Annual Animal Rescue Kayak
... better known as ARK

Funds raised will benefit the
Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program.
*** Choice of Long Course (11 miles) or Short Course (4 miles).
*** Great Prizes for highest Pledge collectors ...... $500.00 Gift Certificate to the Kayak Centre in Rhode Island, a Dry Bag with other kayaking gear from EMS, a Kayaking Class from CT Coastal Kayaking, a Beluga Whale and a Penguin Contact Program at Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, and a Family Membership to The Aquarium. (See Registration Form for qualifications.)
*** A long-sleeved, heavy weight ARK T-shirt, FREE to any paddler who brings in a minimum of $25 in pledges. Shirts available for purchase for $15 each.
*** Many exciting Door Prizes for all who attend ... you don't have to paddle to win to win these great items!!
*** Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) and The Kayak Centre of RI will be on hand with kayaks and staff to talk about this exciting sport for people of all ages.
*** FREE Kayak Rentals for use at the event, but you must reserve in advance. Call Eastern Mountain Sports at 860-447-8448 or The Kayak Centre at 1-888-SEA-KAYAK (888-732-5292).
*** Jerry Wylie of CT Coastal Kayaking will offer a Complimentary Kayaking Class, then he and his wife, Susan Wylie, will guide the Short Course.
*** Maggie Jones, the Executive Director of the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center will guide a WOODLAND WALK TO LOOK FOR BIRDS AND WILDLIFE. You don't have to be a kayaker to enjoy this activity!
*** Burt Baldwin and Bill Donovan, retired university professors and now part-time woodworkers, will be on hand. They construct hand crafted strip plank kayaks from Western Cedar and will display two of them at ARK. They'll be pleased to talk to you all about making them.
*** Children's Activities – an assortment of activities to educate and amuse the young. We’ll have staff from the Mystic Aquarium Education Department on hand with some live invertebrates, typical of what lives naturally at Bluff Point. There will be games and fun for all who attend. An adult must be present with the child or children attending.
*** The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be performing Vessel Safety Checks and will be on hand to talk about boating safety.
*** Doc’s Flavor King will have food, drinks, and ice cream available for purchase.
